Beacons and location-based technologies can be a useful way of managing a physical workforce and visitors to an office building. Security and facilities teams can analyse the flow of people around the building to help identify ways to improve internal movement.
Beacon technology can be used for managing workforces; take for example the security team a specially designed app can automatically register when patrols pass beacons placed around the building. Corporate IT can be given greater control over what employees can access, to ensure that sensitive information doesn’t get compromised. This can work using beacons which disable or enable device features, such as the camera or microphone, in sensitive areas rather than across an entire geolocation; amongst a host of other opportunities to create a Smart Office.
